I love lipstick!

  1. How can I find my perfect shade of red? I know that I'm dark skinned but what reds would look great for my complexion?

  2. In all honesty I have no rules when it comes to makeup, I just do not follow them. I believe with correct application you can rock anything. But as a WOC I do understand the hesitancy when it comes to certain colors. In regards to lipstick (especially if its your first time) I recommend reds like MAC's Dubonnet, Spice It Up, and Underworld (you can visit their website to see it). While you do not have to purchase MAC, if you feel self conscious about what kind of red you should wear this is just an example for the kind of deep reds you should look for. Another brand that I like is by Black Radiance, I usually purchase them from Walgreens and they have very pretty deep red colors that I think suits WOC wonderfully. Hope that helps, anything else just let me know. And do not forget to purchase lip liner.

  3. Why is lip liner so important?

  4. Lip liner is important because it allows you to define and shape your lips. Most importantly, it prevents your lipstick from wandering beyond your lips and onto your skin by "trapping" the lipstick in place. I recommend purchasing a lip liner that closely matches your skin tone for everyday wear because if your lipstick happens to wear off you will not be left with a harsh/dark line around your lips. But do not be afraid to match your lip liner to your lipstick to ensure a well blended look.
